KLASIK: HITAM
The Klasik: Hitam draws inspiration from the rich traditions of Malay artistry, most notably the intricate art of songket weaving, a recognised UNESCO Masterpiece of Oral and Intangible Heritage. This art form, imbued with symbolism and history, finds expression in the watch's design. The hands themselves are a testament to this heritage.

DIAL
Housed in a refined 40mm high-polished stainless steel case, the Klasik: Hitam features a striking black enamel dial. This deliberate design choice, devoid of hour markers, creates a captivating stage for the true focal point of the timepiece: the culturally significant watch hands. The deep, lustrous black of the dial provides a dramatic and uncluttered backdrop, ensuring that the intricate songket-inspired motifs of the hour and minute hands take center stage, their elegant forms and symbolic meanings immediately drawing the viewer's eye. This stark contrast against the polished case further enhances the watch's sophisticated aesthetic, emphasising the artistry and heritage embodied within the hands themselves.
The Waktu logo is subtly positioned at the 9 o’clock mark, serving as both a distinctive brand identifier and a symbolic nod to the seafaring heritage of Malay ancestry, with the "W" alluding to the West and the maritime explorations of the past.

HANDS
The hour hand, reminiscent of the ‘pucuk rebung’ (bamboo shoot) motif found in songket, embodies growth and continuous progression with its delicate, upward-reaching form.
Complementing this is the minute hand, inspired by the ‘bunga pecah lapan’ (eight-petaled flower). This motif, often seen in stylised, geometric songket patterns, speaks to balance and harmony, reflected in the minute hand's constant yet graceful sweep. These motifs, deeply rooted in Malay culture, transform the hands into miniature works of art, each telling a story of tradition.
The creation of these uniquely shaped hands is a testament to the dedication to preserving cultural artistry; their intricate designs demand multiple meticulous attempts to achieve the precise and evocative forms.

CROWN & CASEBACK
Beyond the dial, the Klasik: Hitam is engineered for both elegance and resilience. A meticulously crafted screw-down pumpkin crown, adorned with the Waktu logo, offers a secure and comfortable grip for winding, ensuring precise timekeeping.
Complementing this is a robust screw-down caseback, featuring the Waktu logo prominently in the center. This thoughtful construction of both the crown and caseback allows the timepiece to achieve a water resistance of up to 10 ATM (approximately 100 meters), ensuring durability and peace of mind for the wearer.

Songket and its motifs are symbols of power, societal class, gallantry, racial identity, beauty, high creativity, religion and historical roots.
The 'pucuk rebung', or bamboo shoot motif, is deeply significant to the Malay people. It's more than just a plant; it represents the very essence of Malay life, embodying their philosophy, faith, beliefs, and identity. The bamboo shoot symbolises the vital connection between people and nature in daily life. In Malay culture, plants are seen as the "tree of life," representing "semangat" or spirit. The 'pucuk rebung' with its upward growth, signifies hope, resilience, and new beginnings.
The 'bunga pecah lapan', or eight-petaled flower, is another important motif with rich symbolism. Rooted in Malay culture and religions, the lotus flower, which the 'bunga pecah lapan' represents, has long been associated with different levels of existence. While the lotus can appear in songket with varying numbers of petals (four, six, eight, or twelve), the eight-petaled form in our design speaks to balance and harmony, adding a layer of profound meaning to the watch's aesthetic.

What is an Automatic Watch?
Unlike quartz watches that rely on batteries, automatic watches are powered by a self-winding mechanical movement. This intricate mechanism harnesses kinetic energy generated from your wrist's natural movements. As you wear the watch, a rotor—a weighted, semi-circular disc—rotates, winding the mainspring and storing energy to power the watch.
